Pharos Offshore Group is pleased to announce the expansion of its trenching fleet with the acquisition of UTV620 (formerly known as CT1), a powerful SMD built 620hp jet trencher designed to deliver subsea cable and pipeline burial services. Following a programme of upgrades and system enhancements, UTV620 is preparing to mobilise for its first cable burial project under Pharos in December 2025, ahead of what is set to be a busy and strategically significant 2026 for the company.
The addition of UTV620 represents another milestone in Pharos Offshore Group’s ongoing growth strategy. The trencher significantly strengthens the company’s ability to provide comprehensive, end-to-end seabed intervention solutions across the offshore wind, telecommunications, and oil & gas sectors.
Pharos CEO Phil Walker comments:
“UTV620 represents not only an expansion of the Pharos fleet, but the beginning of a new period of growth and potential. The investment reflects our commitment to continuously strengthen our subsea offering and deliver the highest levels of service and operational excellence to our clients across the world. The addition of UTV620 broadens our technical capabilities and complements our existing fleet of assets, positioning Pharos as a truly integrated provider of subsea intervention solutions.”
With the addition of UTV620, Pharos Offshore Group now offers one of the most comprehensive and capable ranges of equipment in the industry. The company’s fleet includes cable/pipe grabs, pre-lay grapnel run (PLGR) systems, controlled flow excavation (CFE) tools, intelligent mattress installation systems (iMDS2), and jet trenching capability from shore end work, to deep water operations. This enables Pharos to deliver end-to-end cable and pipeline protection solutions from pre-installation to burial and survey.
