As we wave goodbye to September, it’s time to reflect on the incredible work our XLS Work Class and UTV1100 jet trenching systems have been doing in UK waters this month. The Pharos team have captured some truly stunning snaps, showcasing both the technical details of our systems and the beauty of their maritime environments.
Here are some standout entries from this month’s photo competition:
Top Row, Left to Right:
- Peter Shearer – A moody, atmospheric shot of the XLS TMS (Tether Management System) submerged in dark waters. Its lights illuminate the surrounding depths, creating a striking contrast.
- Peter Shearer – The XLS pictured in Orkney, with a lighthouse in the distant background.
- Will Dougal – A serene shot of calm waters, with the Waddenstroom vessel safely in port. The stillness of the scene reflects a moment of peace amidst the dynamic marine operations.
- Will Dougal – The UTV1100 system under a clear moonlit evening; “What do you want? You want the moon? Just say the word and I’ll throw a lasso around it and pull it down.”
Bottom Row, Left to Right:
- Darren Smith – A fantastic photo of the UTV1100 in action, testing its powerful jetting sword.
- Darren Smith – An evening shot of the Waddenstroom with the UTV1100 aboard, bathed in warm twilight hues, ready for its next project.
- Richard McLaughlin – An up-close and personal view of the XLS, highlighting the engineering details of the system.
And the Winner Is…
Rhodri Thomas took home the top prize this month with a stunning image of the UTV1100 testing its jetting system. The photo’s backdrop – a towering wind turbine – added an extra layer of context, demonstrating the important role these systems play in supporting the UK’s renewable energy efforts. This high-quality, dynamic shot was the unanimous favourite among the judges.
Stay tuned for more updates as our systems continue their work in the ever-evolving subsea industry.
We’ll be sharing these stunning photos soon – keep an eye out!
